I missed my flight

A few days ago I missed my flight and I felt stupid and lonely and stuck. I was physically stuck in Fiumicino Airport, in Rome, because Alitalia couldn’t find my huge luggage that was already checked-in about two hours prior to my flight. Long story short, I’ve spent ten days in Italy with a huge group of Jewish students from around Europe. Jews love community life and I must say that going to Jewish camps as a kid changed my life – not in a religious manner (cuz I’m not even religious), but in a “I had so many opportunities…

Attila, officially a capoeira teacher

This is Attila, officially a capoeira teacher. Under the muscles he shows and behind his knowledge about fighting, there’s another Attila: the unexpected artist. He composes songs and poems in Portuguese, he draws and paints, he cooks, but what he seems to like the most is to sing. His voice is crazy! I’ve spent some time with him around his place, in Budapest, where he has his a small capoeira training room. He trains there, but he also gives classes to kids. I saw him teach kids about the basics of capoeira and he is a great teacher. Right above…

Help kids do their homework – it will make you happy!

There are hundreds of articles on the internet about “stuff you can do to be happy”. All those lists include stuff like: “Hug a friend”, “Call a friend”, “Read a few pages of a book a day”, “Make some physical exercise everyday” and many more… … but I never read this one: “Help a kid do his homework” I’m 22 and I’ve got a 10 years old sister. I n-e-v-e-r ask her about school because I remember I hated family asking me stuff about school when I was younger… … And I actually don’t care much about what she does…

Take your time!

Whenever I get excited about stuff I start working. My actual business (which is now two and a half years old) started one night when I decided to create a logo for my business idea and a website. I did not sleep that night. I just wasted it all to create a creepy site and a bad logo. But what I’ve learnt over the past years is that hurrying up is a bad decision. With almost everything in life. Sometimes getting things done just needs some time. When I started writing on what I wanted to be “my book” I…

How to Monetize Your Passion While in High School or University

Truth is that somewhere in the 10th grade, while in high school, I started earning money by doing things I enjoyed doing – writing that was. I was being asked by brands to write articles on different subjects and I was payed to do it. No, not advertisements, but articles on subjects that could indirectly promote the brand or a service or product of the brand. I had full freedom. I could be as creative as I felt like being. And I could work for wherever I felt like it. No eight to five. I had an opportunity that not…

The Century of Being Easily Distracted

Oh, how I love the 21st century – we’ve got great technology, internet is all over and people are cleaner than ever… But this is the century of being easily distracted. For example, when I start writing something on my laptop I may also have a tab opened on Chrome. There are huge chanses that somebody will start, God know for what stupid reason, chatting with me. That will freaking distract my ass off. So I click the Facebook tab, answer to that person and close the tab for good so I can focus on my writing. A few minutes…

How to find inspiration for writing? Don’t.

For years I thought inspiration is something that just comes, from time to time, and knocks on my door. For years I thought that when inspiration knocks on my door, I’ll have to “welcome it” and start writing. But for years I’ve been stupidly lying to myself, not knowing that inspiration is actually something that knocks on my door whenever I want it to knock on my door. You don’t just wait for inspiration if you want to write or do whatever you like doing. You have to get yourself inspired. You have to make inspiration knock on your door…

5 ways blogging changed my life!

So, here I am, doing the biggest thing a blogger can ever do: start writing on his blog again, after an undeserved break. I’m actually blogging on my personal Romanian blog (arielu.ro) since September 2006 almost daily. I’m getting great traffic, great comments, great money and also great life lessons. Here, on my English blog, I stopped writing about a month after opening it. But that’s just wrong. So here I am, back again, after two years of not writing on it. The best moment to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The next best moment is now! In…

Us, The Survivors

Could you imagine if one ordinary day, a bunch of soldiers came up to your door, identified you and forcefully dragged you out of your house? Imagine they then threw you into a crammed car and took you to an unknown place… All this without giving you the chance to say goodbye to anyone, take any luggage or… anything. What would it be like if you were forced to work an entire day in exchange for just a slice of bread? What would it be like to see familiar faces murdered for disobedience? Sleep in the same filthy bed as…
